A Testimony on Natural Remedies

by Dada Damilola

“Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.” 3 John 1:2 KJV The mind of God towards every child of His is that he or she prospers especially in the area of health. “Why is this?”, one might ask. One cannot be of service to the Lord in poor health; perfect health strengthens the body and the mind to perceive correctly Holy things. A study of the Bible is most enlightening only when done in perfect health and application of the principles learnt from the Word is possible and enjoyable only in perfect health and not in pain of sickness. Most times, we fall ill from the things we eat or drink.

I have often been guilty in this regard, being unnecessarily ignorant of healthful food for the body and its implications to the gastrointestinal tact (G.I). Some time ago I noticed massive expulsion of blood in my stool. At the first I thought it would be something that would disappear not long after but rather the problem increased by the day. I was alarmed. I had earlier come to learn that drugs do not cure disease; past personal experience had shown me their inefficiency to cure and so I set my mind not to take pills except in the condition that I could not access natural remedies. I reached out to a brother who is more knowledgeable than I am in using the blessings God has given to us in nature to help.

I was directed to get some activated charcoal, mix with warm water and take a cup morning afternoon and evening. This was as I strove to keep the 8 laws of health. In addition to this, I was to scoop out some Aloe Vera gel to get about half a cup and drink. This was to be taken by evening as well. On getting this information, I prayed concerning this healing remedy and for the Lord to open a way to acquire activated charcoal. Fortunately, some Aloe Vera was growing by the garden in the compound. The Lord provided the pulverized charcoal and I set about treatment.

Aloe vera

I was to scoop out some Aloe Vera gel to get about half a cup and drink.

One key thing was to commit the treatment to the Lord in prayer and after 3 days I noticed the blood had completely stopped. How joyed I was! What the charcoal and aloe vera did was to heal the inflamed walls of the G.I which led to a stop in the internal bleeding. I continued with the treatment for 2 additional days and noticed complete healing.

Now there is an adage that says, ‘‘When a child falls down, he dusts himself up and continues his journey but when an elder falls, he looks back to determine the cause of the fall.’’ In looking back, I realised that I was buying Egusi seeds from market, grinding them there and adding to my soup directly without having prepared them sanitarily. In addition, the grinding machine used at the market was always dirty and a broom was used to sweep out whatever stuck to the grinder. Now I buy the Egusi seeds, pick them and grind at home with my blender.

Another benefit I noticed in this natural means of treatment is not only that it works more rapid than I thought but also how cheap and accessible it is. I got some activated charcoal for 400 Naira per container( I bought six out of desperation) and the Aloe Vera was growing within my compound on my flower bed.

Lastly in using natural remedies, I had no need to be a slave to drugs. The ailment was cured completely and not managed. Many a people are slaves to drugs; a day without the pill would be agonizing for them, this surely isn’t true healing. Healing means to be cured entirely from an ailment and not to manage symptoms. If we would follow God’s healing way of living by the Eight laws, using herbs when necessary and trusting Him completely, we should be in good health and avert a myriad of diseases. Natural remedies do work, what we need is a knowledge of what, how and to use them and healing would be granted by the very One who gave these remedies. Health will be granted and service to the Lord will be possible as these are practiced.
