Who shall stand for the truth?
In our last article, we looked at the Central Bank of Nigeria make a move to redesign the naira notes, this was to help fix a list of underlying issues affecting both the economy and state of the country. As expected, the knowledge of man has always failed to hit the desired result or provide a permanent solution. Every attempt leads to the fulfilment of what scripture has foretold of the latter days. In this article, we shall look at another effect of the naira redesign. Due to the short amount of time given by the apex bank of Nigeria to phase out the old currency notes, commercial banks have in return sought to handle the pressure by demanding their workers to extend their work days to Saturday. One might ask, “Why is this so much of a big deal?” As believers in the words of the Bible, who hold the written word of God dear to our hearts, we must “Remember the Sabbath day and keep it holy.” Exodus 20:8 It further reads “Six days shalt thou labor and do all thy work but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:” Exodus 20:9-10KJV It is common knowledge that the seventh day of the week is Saturday (Friday sunset to Saturday sunset ). And it is on this same day the banks require their workers to clock in to meet a demand, there by opposing the direct command of the Lord God! This brings those workers who desire to keep the commands of the Lord to a point of decision. They may think to themselves, “Shall I stand for the right?” If I do stand for the right, how do I earn a living? But then the question, has anyone loyal to the instruction of the Lord ever been left disappointed ? When Abraham, the father of faith obeyed the direct instruction to sacrifice his only son Isaac it counted for great gain! Even though to the human mind it made no sense, but the Lord will have us entirely sold out to Him alone. The counsel given to us in times of trial is that we “Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;” Ephesians 6:11, 14 KJV We are asked to make truth our watchword, no form of compromise should be entertained, that the word of God be held on to dearly with hope and surely victory will be granted as we stay loyal to our Lord. As we asked at the beginning, “Who shall stand for the truth?” Those who have a solid and mature knowledge of truth, who obey it and are sanctified by it.
