Who is the Messiah?

Over time we have observed the state of our nation and how the powers that be seek to have a firm grip of our finances. We have seen a redesign of the currency, rolling out of new policies, effects of the redesign and lastly the means through which we shall go cashless. The aim of these observations is to ready ourselves for the time to come, where all men would be brought to a point of decision, those who stand for the true wonderful words of life or those who seek to exalt the wisdom of men. Of these wonderful words of Life, the psalmist proclaimed “The words of the LORD are pure words: As silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.” Psalm 12:6 KJV But of the wisdom of men; “…for the wisdom of their wise men shall perish, and the understanding of their prudent men shall be hid.” Isaiah 29:14 KJV

Currently, the country is preparing for its general elections. Campaigns have begun across different states. Each Presidential candidate seeks to promote himself as the one who would bring the country from its low state to an exalted one. Some have traveled around the world with cameras behind them, claiming to study the methods of other nations doing well in a sector, hoping to implement them on appointment. Another candidate markets his skill in managing the human resource as well as raising leaders, while another moves silently looking to roll out wads of cash at any obstacle. Some have proclaimed to be the Messiah of the country while others plead for a chance to revive the country.

In the midst of these campaigns are many Nigerians who believe the candidates as worthy and pipe the songs of the one who appeals to their minds. They lay their hopes on individuals that redemption might be brought to the land and current afflictions as well as tragic events would be blotted out by attainment of the presidential seat. Shall we lay our hopes on man, shall we not trust in the Lord? (Read 1 Cor 3:21) The solution is found in the following text: “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:14 KJV

All men must keep in mind that we are to “… seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” Matthew 6:33 KJV The mind should be engulfed by the thought of the kingdom of God, the actions should, every moment, seek to attain this kingdom. Only in this kingdom can the true desires of man be satisfied. In this kingdom love is bountiful; a kingdom that is eternal, flowing with wonderful peace from the Father.

This kingdom of perfection has been promised to all “…..who doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven” Matthew 7:21 KJV To do the will of the Father, we must daily ponder the life of Christ, His teachings, character and love manifested all through His walk on earth. Only through Christ can we gain access to the Father as He replied Thomas saying, “……..I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” John 14:6 KJV We are counseled by Paul, “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” Romans 12:2 KJV

Christ bids us “come unto me all ye that labor and are heavy laden and I will give you rest” Matthew 11:28 KJV Shall we take that step of faith? In taking this step of faith, the great promise has been given. Amen
