A Poem: Lawve

by Victor Chikaleke and Fawehinmi Oluwatobi

When I...

Ponder the word Love,

I wonder that this must be possibly the most

misunderstood word in humanity's.

Each of us has such a skewed concept of love that

sometimes I retort to myself; This is nothing but

insanity!

Love is not in the least lawless.

On the contrary love is law in action and law is

loving moral strictness.

We think of God's Law as being void of love,

sympathy and empathy.

We consider His Law as being full of burning

judgment and apathy.

And so we have invented, concocted and embraced

our own poisonous soup of love;

We have rejected the truth and have devised a love

so far from the true but so cherished by the youth.

Namby pamby, it is the anthem of humanity crew.

It is a ...

Love that serenades only pleasant songs to soothe

the ears.

A love that always flatters and pumps,

It inflates with airy lies,

It seeks with painful effort not to offend or to

produce tears or cries.

This kind of love comes not from above and only

lowers the soul!

Strange infatuation! It comes from beneath!

Would you know that whom the father loves he

disciplines, corrects and chastens?

Foolish, sinful man thinks so much that he is all right

when he is so wrong.

Have you not heard that true love cuts to heal?

And that anything opposite is as a thief who comes

to steal?

For so are lies that kill.

Have you not heard that love commands when it

seeks to save?

Have you not heard that love rejoices only in the

truth? And with hot passion hates lies, all things evil

and uncouth? And because truth is often bitter,

sometimes love is bitter?

But a huge boost to the liver!

Love is extrovert; she doesn't mind only her own

business.

Love is vocal; she doesn't keep silent when she

should speak.

To save, she lifts up her voice to its peak!

Love is firm; she doesn't bend because of

circumstances.

She shapes them!

Love is frank; she tells you exactly what the matter

is.

Love is a master artist; she paints the picture as it is.

Law and love have kissed each other.

They are married and never to sunder.

Therefore what God has joined together.

Let no man dare put asunder!
